Dr. Kam presented his recent work on the dynamics of social response to the 2011-17 California Drought during the 99th AMS Annual Meeting.
Dr. Kam gave an oral presentation during the 99th AMS Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ on January 10, 2019. This representation is based on his recent work on "Monitoring of Drought Awareness from Google Trends: A Case Study of the 2011-17 California Drought" (under review in the AMS journal Weather, Climate and Society). This study informs the value of social monitoring data (herein, Google Trends data) in understanding the dynamics of social response to different stages of the drought. This study is done through collaboration with Dr. Kimberly Stowers (Department of Management, U of Alabama) and his PhD student, Sungyoon Kim.
